Carole Vandenberg and I had dinner this evening at Quench Wine Bistro Cheese Provisions in the Reynolds Village located in Woodfin. This was our first time there. We workout most mornings at the Woodfin YMCA there as well. It’s a symbiotic relationship - workout in the morning and eat out in the evening. We think you know how such relationships work. Pictures of the food and wine menus provided.

We were warmly greeted at the door by Jonathan who was also our table side server. Excellent, excellent service from start to finish. I had a glass of gamay and Carole a glass of Albariño (and later Chardonnay) to go with the food. A description of the food may be found on the menu and below each picture. We ordered all small shareable plates. The first plate out was the Sam’s deviled eggs. Unlike picnic/holiday deviled eggs which our mustard based and you still have an egg taste, these had a slight sweetness to them and the egg taste was muted. They were excellent tasting particularly with the paprika mayo spread on top. I, personally, could have filled up on those by themselves.

The next plate out was the heirloom tomato and arugula salad. The tomatoes were absolutely fresh and delicious. Both of us were wondering, where do you get fresh heirloom tomatoes (or fresh any kind of tomato) this time of year? It’s too early in the local gardening season for them yet. But they went so well with the whipped feta which itself was quite mild. And we both loved the citrus flavor from the lemon vinaigrette.

The beef carpaccio and local mushroom plates came out at the same time. The carpaccio was surprisingly delicate tasting given that it was beef. The hatch chili aioli added a small amount of heat to each bite. The mushrooms were prepared just right. While roasted, they still had a crunchy texture to them, and the XO sauce (would love to know how to make that) added a bit of sweet heat to the overall taste.

The remaining plates were the hatch green chili cheese relleno, and the elk dogs in a blanket. We both love hatch green chilies, and this relleno hit our love spot. There was some heat to it but the melted cheese inside softened the heat a lot. It was so delicious. And the elk pig in the blankets were a nice finish to our dinner.

With a few exceptions, Carole and I typically don’t order desserts at all. One of those exceptions is during strawberry season when a restaurant offers a strawberry shortcake with whipped cream or a similar dish with strawberries. The strawberries in this dish were like the fresh strawberries we picked up last week in GA at a strawberry farm. There is no mistaking the taste of fresh gardened strawberries and the ones in tonight’s dessert had that taste.

All in all, we had an amazing dinner tonight at Quench. We will return there many more times. We hope you give them a try whether you are local or will be visiting the Asheville area. More info may be found here https://quenchavl.com

I have been several times. Never disappointed.

I noticed the signs by the road a few days ago. I assumed it was lighter fare, not a place you'd enjoy a full dinner. So, thanks for this review! The food looks great and the price points are absolutely looking doable and a good value.
Is this the spot across from Village Porch?

      Love Quench!

I was introduced to Quench by a lovely lady who runs Uncorked Asheville, Christine. And that was reinforced by meeting one of their reps at Taste of Asheville a few weeks ago. I’m so glad we tried it! It’s a cozy friendly little spot. We now must return so we can have the grilled cheese, soup and salad dinner! Wines are very nice - Metro Wines co-owns this lovely place.
