What Customer LH Said in a Review of Quench!
I really hope that this place continues to thrive. It is the perfect cozy neighborhood spot, especially for those of us who go to the Woodfin YMCA and want to meet somebody for lunch or a nice glass of wine after a workout.
What’s to love?
The menu offers a variety of options and has something for everybody from vegetarians to carnivores.
There is a robust wine selection (this makes sense, because the place is owned by Metro wines) although we have only been for lunch, and I had too many errands to do that day and commitments, to indulge in a glass of wine, but we will be back in the evening.
The server was pleasant and efficient without hovering. My friend arrived 30 minutes before I did. It was all my fault, because one of my classes was canceled and I ended up going to another class, and then mixing up the time when I was supposed to meet her. So she had been sitting there for half an hour. And it is the type of place that you can sit for half an hour and not feel super awkward. She had a gorgeous bowl of soup by the time I arrived. She said her coffee was excellent. And when the service saw me arrive, he Quickly fetched the menu for me and my salad came out very quickly as well so that my friend was not eating by herself for too long!
The place is cozy, but not dark. There is a nice large window onto the street that keeps the place somewhat airy and bright, but it’s a small spot, so the tables are cozy and reminiscent of a European Café where there is not a lot of room. This is not negative; this is what community should be. With little two tops and four tops somewhat close to one another. The bar area is also very pretty. And I imagine that in the evening it would be fun to sit at the bar and enjoy some cheese and wine.
My only complaint is the tea selection. Since the place feels very elegant, it would be nice if they had some loose tea and some teapots rather than just a bag of tea in a cup. I normally would not complain about bags of tea in most restaurants, but this restaurant really positions itself to having pot of tea and sitting and simmering along with your Lunch, so please consider adding a couple of tea pots and some looseleaf teas to your menu. I did not deduct a star, but I just thought that would be a nice addition, because it does have a bit of a European feel. Also, some French presses? That would be lovely. My friend said the coffee is excellent, but if you had a French press I would’ve ordered coffee instead! And you can charge a little bit more for the French press, and there’s something lovely about having the French press on the table. I realize I’m making a lot of suggestions, but it is only because the place is new, and I think that an elegant tea and coffee experience would really suit the interior and the balance of the menu.
Oh, we met one of the owners, and she was very nice as well.
Almost forgot the food!
I had the tuna salad and the dressing was really tasty. It was also a very pretty salad. See the photos
PALentine's Day Tasting
News Release: Friday, January 31st, 2025
About: Wine Tasting at Quench Wine Bistro on February 12th!
Join us for a PALentine's Day on Wednesday, February 12th from 4-6 at Quench! Wine Bistro in Reynolds Village. Palentine's Day is a day to celebrate love and friendship.
The tasting of "wines to share" will be hosted by Juniper Cooper of Johnson Brothers/Mutual, who hosts the Wine Wednesday Tasting at Quench Wine Bistro on the second Wednesday of every month. The tasting is "at the QBar" and "on the house." Parking is free, close and easy.
Wines on The Taste:
Harvey & Harriet White Blend, Paso Robles- created in celebration of the wine-maker's, Eric Jensen's, parents and their half century-plus together. A unique blend of Chardonnay, Viognier, Albarino, and Pinot Grigio this wine embodies the spirit of Paso Robles with rich tropicals balanced by bright acidity and a hint of saltiness.
Farmed organically and produced in a solar powered winery, this wine is both a joy to drink and a love note to the environment.
Cuvee Francoise Brut Rose Cremant, Limoux- as close drinking a bouquet of wild flowers as you can get. Created by sixth-generation female winemaker, Francoise Antech-Gazeau, this blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir is a burst of refreshing rose petal. Spring cherries and creamy citrus.
Who needs roses when you can have a sparkling rose!
Ceretto Dolcetto D'Alba Rossana, Alba- harvested from the storied organic-certified Rossana vineyard on the outskirts of Alba, this wine employs a short maceration in order to limit the naturally exuberant tannins of the Dolcetto grape and uses stainless steel fermentation to showcase the bright bouquet and light florality of the wine. The Ceretto family, helmed by current third generation siblings Roberta and Alessandro, is dedicated to promoting local agriculture and organic farming practices. Delightfully nuanced with cherries, lavender, violets and a hint of savory balsamic, this wine would be great for a romantic dinner or a shared charcuterie board with friends.
Tasca Regaleali Lamuri Nero D'Avola, Sicily- Regaleali is a gorgeously situated, sustainably certified Sicilian winery dedicated to showcasing the indigenous varietals of the region. Winemaker, Laura Orsini creates beautiful variations on traditional styles. This single vineyard Nero D'Avola is aged in a combination of new and used French oak for gentler tannins and smoother structure in the typically rustic grape. Juicy black plum with fresh mocha, herbal notes of tarragon and thyme are balanced with earth and slate. Lamuri is "love" in Sicilian!
Save the date and stand by for the announcement of wines on the taste! Bring your Pal !!
And, as always, Chef Sam says: "Come for the Tasting and stay for dinner!."
